Why the "Just"--because there can be no peace without justice, so we are a group that gathers to discuss and act in ways that bring about justice and peace.
Monday, March 29th: Talks to make you Think!
Jesus: The Cloistered Christ Dr. William Nietmann Retired Philosophy Professor at NAU The Cloistered Christ—Monday, March 29th at 7:00 Campus Ministry Center—no charge
This (Holy Week) was a week like no other for the first disciples of Jesus—there was likely no week where they asked more questions about who Jesus was and what that meant for their lives. Professor Nietmann will shed some light on where their (first century Roman Empire) ideas emerged from socially, politically and philosophically. Jesus proposed a radical idea that challenged the Romany Empire. How did Jesus and his idea of agape clash with the ancient world’s Platonistic hermeneutic? Leaning on the works of Kierkegaard, Heidegger and others, he will contrast Jesus’ idea of agape with Platonism and what that meant for the ancient world. Professor Nietmann assures us that it is an extended discussion—we are at the edge!
Mondays in April at 7:30 in the Campus Ministry Center
